About Home Health Aide Training

Are you looking for an opportunity where YOU can make a difference in people’s lives each day?

Have you been searching for the most convenient and up-to-date Home Health Aide training specific to Florida’s home care industry?

Look No Further! Southern Technical Institute’s Home Health Aide (HHA) Training allows you to become a Florida Home Health Aide at convenient times for YOUR schedule.

There has never been a more perfect time for you to start Home Health Aide Training in Florida. As the average age of the United States’ population increases, demand is greater than ever for competent Home Health Aide professionals.

In addition, healthcare technology has become more compact and less expensive motivating many to elect to be cared for in their home instead of in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and/or hospitals. In many cases, the care required is monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily activities like preparing meals and cleaning and helping with personal care such as bathing.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014), there are no universal formal federal educational requirements in the United States to become a home health aide (HHA). Many states require home health aides have a high school diploma or GED before entering the field, but this is NOT a requirement in Florida. The HHA Certificate classes do not require individuals to have a high school diploma or GED to be eligible for enrollment.

Most home care agencies will require that you are 18 years of age and will conduct Level 2 background checks and in some cases, a physical exam.

At Southern Technical Institute, you can choose online or in-class home health aide training programs. Therefore, in just weeks, you can earn a 40-hour HHA certificate or a Home Health Aide 75 hour certificate as a Florida Home Health Aide when you successfully complete Southern Technical Institute’s Home Health Aide training.

If you already have completed a training program as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), you can take the on-line Home Health Aide (HHA) class and receive a Home Health Aide 75 hour certificate. The 75-hour HHA certificate is important because it meets Florida AHCA guidelines and enables you to work for Home Health agencies that bill Medicaid/Medicare for approved client services.

All Home Health Aide courses offered at Southern Technical Institute meet the criteria for AHCA guidelines. At the end of your training with Southern Technical Institute, you will have the knowledge necessary to be successful on the Florida HHA Certification Competency Test established by AHCA.

If you are looking for a diploma program (versus a certificate), Southern Technical Institute also offers a 165-hour diploma in Home Health Aide for individuals with a High School Diploma or GED. The HHA program offered will provide you with a background in all types of medical careers PLUS offers hands-on training for both online and in-house training classes. You will learn concepts that are required by AHCA so that you can work in agencies that accept Medicaid/Medicare patients. These courses are a fast and easy way to enter into the medical work force in area that is in demand!

Ultimately, getting your Home Health Aide certification will not only be a fulfilling and empowering experience that can change your life, it will improve the lives of the clients in your care!
